Filter Separator To Solve High Gas Problems

Filter Separator Schematic

Filter Separator Schematic

In case of high gas separation, filter separator can be used to solve the problem. In the figure above you can see filter separator schematic on horizontal two-barrel design.

Instead of using inlet diverter at initial separation, the fluid is flown through filter tubes. As the gas flow through the tubes the liquid will form larger droplets due to coalescence effect.

The droplets will flow to the secondary section through mist extractor. This kind of separator has a high efficiency on removing particle larger than 1/2 micron. Filter separators used to be installed on compressor inlets at compressor stations. On gas field processing this separators are commonly used as a final scrubber of glycol contact tower.
